Members of the Ratton School Community (students, teachers, governors and parents) can log into this website to view extra information and sections unavailable otherwise.

If you are a student or member of staff please use your school username and password. If you are a parent you will need to enter your email address and Ratton website password (which is different from Parents’ Gateway). If you do not yet have an account, please click here to register.


Curriculum

An overview of the Curriculum offer for 2007/08:

Please note that the Curriculum at Ratton is continually under review. The model outlined below is in place for 2007-8.

Key Stage 3: Years 7 – 9

Year 7 Ratton students follow courses in:
English, Maths, Science, P.E., ICT, RE, PSHE, Citizenship, Opening Minds, MFL (students have a choice between French, German and Spanish) Design and Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music, Drama and Dance.
• Some students in Y7 are given the opportunity to have extra support for Literacy
• In Years 8 and 9, students stop following the Opening Minds course and some students are given the opportunity to take a second modern foreign language

Key Stage 4: Years 10 & 11

In Year 10, students currently follow the Ratton core curriculum comprising of English, Maths, Science, Performing Arts, RE, PE, C.O.P.E (Cert of Personal Effectiveness) PSHE and Citizenship; for each student this is usually made up of 5-7 GCSEs.

In addition, students are guided towards a specially prepared ‘pathway’ comprising of 3 -5 GCSEs
1. Traditional pathway made up of 4 x GCSEs
2. A vocational pathway – a Level 2 Qualification equivalent to 4 x GCSEs
3. A combined pathway – usually 2 x GCSEs and a Level 2 Qualification equivalent to 2 x GCSes
4. An I.F. pathway (Increased Flexibility) – Level 1 and 2 Qualifications

Extended Curriculum

Gifted and Talented students have the opportunity to take additional GCSEs / Level 2 Qualifications in a range of subjects.
