KEY STAGE 3
Throughout KS3 the National numeracy strategy is at the heart of the mathematics teaching and the Scheme of Work is based on the frameworks’ medium term plans. The main text used at KS3 is the Framework Maths Scheme.
The department are currently working on the ‘Making Good Progress’ pilot which aims to increase the number of students making at least 2 levels of progress throughout the Key Stage. As part of this process staff us ‘Assessing Pupil Progress’ as an integral part of the assessment process and students are given the opportunity to take single level tests when they have securely moved up one level. In addition to this students take the normal end of Key Sage SATs exams in which our students are very successful with 83% reaching level 5 or above in 2007.
